Un oggetto o un corpo dall'aspetto comune, se osservati con vera attenzione, si trasformano in qualcosa di sacro. La macchina fotografica può rivelare i segreti che l'occhio nudo o la mente non colgono , sparisce tutto tranne quello che viene messo a fuoco con l'obiettivo. La fotografia è un esercizio d?osservazione e il risultato è sempre un colpo di fortuna: tra le migliaia di negativi che riempiono diversi cassetti del mio studio quelli eccezionali sono veramente pochi. La macchina fotografica è uno strumento semplice, anche il più stupido può usarla, la sfida consiste nel creare attraverso di essa quella combinazione tra verità e bellezza chiamata arte. E' una ricerca soprattutto spirituale. Cerco verità e bellezza nella trasparenza d'una foglia d'autunno, nella forma perfetta di una chiocciola sulla spiaggia, nella curva d'una schiena femminile, nella consistenza d?un vecchio tronco d'albero e anche in altre sfuggenti forme della realtà. Alcune volte, mentre lavoro su un?immagine nella mia camera oscura, fa la sua comparsa l'anima di una persona, l'emozione di un evento o l'essenza vitale di un oggetto, e allora il cuore mi trabocca di felicità e libero il pianto, non riesco a farne a meno.
